ACS Matter. Lett.: A MXene with a redispersible adhesive-free

source:beike new material Views:5125time:2020-11-18 QQ Academic Group: 1092348845

MXene, (Ti3C2Tx, Tx surface functional group including -OH, -O or -F), as a new type of TWO-DIMENSIONAL (2D) materials, has received continuous attention in recent years based on its high conductivity and outstanding hydrophilicity. The unique properties of MXene make it widely used in many applications, such as electromagnetic shielding, energy storage, communication, catalysis and intelligent materials. The biggest problem MXene needs to face is that in the industrial production process, its poor oxidation resistance will lead to rapid attenuation in the water environment with air, which will be converted into TiO2, thus greatly reducing its excellent performance.

It is a simple and effective method to transform MXene dispersion into solid film or aerogel through vacuum filtration or freeze-drying. However, the MXene materials in these states cannot be re-dispersed in water due to strong interlaminar reactions. In addition, the oxidation of MXene can be effectively alleviated by introducing inert gas, cryogenic preservation, or introducing antioxidants into the MXene dispersion, but these methods are accompanied by high energy consumption or additional steps to remove additives.

Recently, Professor Liu Yuyan of Harbin Institute of Technology published his research paper titled Binder Free Ti3C2Tx Mxenedcreation with High ReDispersive "dough" state, where the solid content is about 19.4 wt %, without similar Binder and other additives, has been reported. It retains an appropriate number of water molecules on the surface and inside, which makes it highly flame retardant, malleable, and portable, and can be easily dissolved and diluted into a gel or dispersion.

In this paper, a binder - free "dough-like" MXene with a solid content of up to 19.4wt % was successfully prepared. This MXene "dough" has a high degree of hydration and aggregation and can easily return to a dense, muddy or even the initial dispersed liquid state, demonstrating a high degree of reversibility and no significant difference from the newly prepared MXene dispersed liquid phase. More importantly, the MXene "dough" has excellent oxidation resistance and can be redispersed after 150 days with no performance loss. This work provides a solution to overcome the problems faced by MXene such as easy oxidation and high transportation cost in industrialization, which can further promote the development of MXene.
