The study proposes a strategy for asymmetrical chemical functionalization of the ends of single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs) and achieves their directional connection with different single molecular units, thereby constructing bifunctional R-CNT-R’ heterostructures. This research integrates metal nanoparticles (NPs) with semiconductor nanocrystals (quantum dots, QDs)Selective covalent attachment to both ends of a single-walled carbon nanotube was achieved, demonstrating the feasibility of this method, and further characterizing the electronic coupling between components in the composite system. The method developed in this study is versatile and can provide valuable insights for the design and development of novel single-walled carbon nanotube-based nanohybrid materials at the single-molecule level.
