This study investigated a type of bio-heterogeneous integrated reconstituted collagen hydrogel named CAP@MXene/CuTCPP, which was used to treat wounds infected by multi-drug resistant bacteria (particularly MRSA). The research was published in the journal "Bioactive Materials". The research team constructed a dynamic borate ester bond-crosslinked hydrogel network, combining the MXene/CuTCPP bio-heterogeneous junction with the reconstituted collagen protein. Under near-infrared light irradiation, this hydrogel achieved efficient clearance of MRSA and its biofilm through the synergistic effects of photothermal effect, photodynamic effect, and peroxidase-like activity. More importantly, in the in vivo environment, this hydrogel not only served as a biomimetic extracellular matrix to support tissue regeneration, but also effectively regulated macrophages to polarize from the pro-inflammatory M1 phenotype to the pro-healing M2 phenotype, thereby significantly promoting angiogenesis and wound closure. This research provided a new design concept for developing wound dressings with both efficient antibacterial and immunomodulatory functions.
