Chiral gold nanocrystals are promising materials for biological sensing and therapeutic applications. However, the generation of chirality in the seed-mediated synthesis process remains unclear, resulting in limited control over morphology and process properties. This book demonstrates that chiral growth can be mediated by the orientation sequence of gold surface chiral micelles. Quantitative three-dimensional electron microscopy and molecular dynamics simulations reveal the growth rules of this mechanism and prove that coil-like micelles are positioned on the seed surface in a preferred crystal orientation to simulate the growth of hierarchical chirality features. These features have specific torsion-direction coupling, explaining how molecular chiral inducers and seed crystal structures simultaneously act as stereoselective parameters. These analyses indicate that surfactant assemblies play a new role in seed-mediated synthesis, revealing the fundamental aspects of chiral transfer, which is of great significance for the rational synthesis of chiral and anisotropic nanoscale structures. This research was published in Advanced Materials under the title "Chirality Transfer via Orientational Order of Micellar Assemblies on Gold Nanocrystals".
