Solubility
Fullerenes are poorly soluble in most solvents and are usually dissolved in an aromatic solvent such as toluene, chlorobenzene, or a non-aromatic solvent, carbon disulfide. The solution of pure fullerene is usually purple, the concentration is purple red, the solution of C70 is slightly redder than C60, because other absorption is at 500nm; other fullerenes, such as C76, C80, etc. are different. purple. Fullerenes are allotropes of carbon found to date in a solvent dissolved in a conventional solvent at room temperature.
Some fullerenes are insoluble because their ground and excited states have narrow bandwidths, such as C28, C36 and C50. C72 is also almost insoluble, but the inlaid fullerenes of C72, such as La2.C72, are soluble due to the interaction of metal elements with fullerenes. Early scientific scientists were puzzled by the lack of C72, but C72 embedded in fullerenes. The narrow bandwidth of fullerene is highly active and often combines with other fullerenes. The solubility of the chemically modified fullerene derivative is much enhanced. For example, the solubility of PC61BM in chlorobenzene at room temperature is 50 mg/mL. The solubility of C60 and C70 in some solvents is listed in the left table, where the solubility is usually an estimate of the saturation concentration.
Conductivity
C60 is not conductive under normal conditions. Because C60 is too large to put other atoms into it and affect its physical properties, it is not conductive. Superconductivity
Many properties were discovered after mass production of C60. Soon, Haddon et al. found that alkali-doped C60 has metallic behavior. In 1991, it was found that potassium-doped C60 has superconducting behavior at 18K, which is the highest molecular hitherto.
