Detailed

【Research Background】

Solar fuel equipment is a new energy source based on the abundant materials on the earth, through (photo)electrocatalytic H2O conversion into H2 and O2, and storage. The most important of these is how to improve the efficiency of catalytic hydrogen and oxygen production. MXenes are a series of two-dimensional transition metal carbides and nitrides, which have proven a series of promising electrochemical properties, including excellent hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) electrocatalytic performance, and this excellent performance is caused by the edge of the catalytic activity Point and base surface.

【Achievement Introduction】

Recently, Dr. Abdoulaye Djire from the National Renewable Energy Laboratory of the Center for Chemistry and Nanoscience of the United States published a research paper titled Basal Plane Hydrogen Evolution Activity from Mixed Metal Nitride MXenes Measured by Scanning Electrochemical Microscopy in the internationally renowned academic journal Advanced Functional Materials.

【Summary of this article】

This paper uses structural, chemical and electrochemical techniques combined with SECM to prove that mixed transition metal nitride MXenes is more catalytically active than single metal nitride MXenes. The mixed transition metal nitrides MXenes, M-Ti4N3Tx, where M = V, Cr, Mo, Mn, are synthesized by a simple solution method, so that the secondary metal content is high (6-51%cf. Ti), and the load can be controlled.
