Jinhai Huang, Mei Yang, A-Yong Yu et al designed A micro-environment-triggered degradable hydrogel (RenP-ICG@pNIPAM: DOx-FA) based on ultra-small (<5 nm) rare earth nanoparticles (RENPs) with enhanced NIR-II luminescence.
Main points of this article:
1) Ultra-small diameter can significantly improve the NIR-II luminescence performance of RENPs. RENPs was encapsulated by a dual-response PNIPAM hydrogel, which released the drug in response to thermal energy and glutathione in a tumor microenvironment.
3) In addition, the biodegradability of hydrogel composites under physiological conditions is conducive to improving the effect of photothermal chemotherapy and reducing long-term biotoxicity.
In summary, hydrogels with enhanced NIR-II imaging and microenvironment-triggered metabolism may provide a promising strategy for sensitive and non-invasive imaging and phototherapy of ocular tumors.
