The strategy of differentiating bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells BMSCs into functional nerve cells has been widely studied in the treatment of neurological diseases. However, how to solve the limited neural differentiation performance of bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells is still a big research challenge. Here, Peng Lihua of Zhejiang University discovered for the first time that ginseng-derived exosomes G-Exos can effectively stimulate the neural differentiation of BMSCs by transferring miRNAs to BMSCs. In vivo studies have shown that the photocross-linked hydrogel loaded with chemokines and G-Exos has a good effect in recruiting bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells and directing their neural differentiation. Experimental results show that G-Exos is a promising nano-platform that can transfer plant-derived miRNAs to mammalian stem cells for neural differentiation in vivo and in vitro. This strategy has great application potential in the field of neuroregenerative medicine.
