Abstract:
The repair of bone defects in the elderly is hindered by a vicious cycle formed in the aging microenvironment (SME) due to excessive reactive oxygen species (ROS), chronic inflammation, accumulation of senescent cells, and local infection. This study developed a multimodal ROS logic-gated therapeutic platform that effectively promotes bone regeneration in aged animal models by precisely regulating ROS levels, clearing senescent cells, alleviating inflammation, and enhancing stem cell activity, providing a new strategy for repairing aged bone defects.
Research Background

The decline in regenerative ability in elderly individuals is a core challenge in bone defect repair. In the aging microenvironment, excessive ROS, chronic inflammation, accumulation of senescent cells, and local infections mutually reinforce each other, forming a self-amplifying vicious cycle that severely hinders the healing process.
