The AAO template part of the single-pass AAO inorganic film has a honeycomb structure, which is composed of many hexagonal column oxide cells (units), and each such unit has a circular hole in the middle. At the lower end of the hole there is a hemispherical barrier layer between the oxide layer and the metal.
